BLM responding to multiple lightning caused fires

UPDATE (as of 5:30 p.m., Sept. 2): The Syrup Fire, 10 miles northwest of Mountain Home, has now spread over 5,100 acres. Estimates on containment and control have not changed.

The Big Flat Fire, 25 miles northeast of Weiser, has also grown from 25 acres to over 1,000 acres. The fire still doesn’t have an estimated time of containment or control, but there are two BLM engines, four tanks and a dozer on scene.

The Lover Fire which is 6 miles east of Bruneau was contained at 2:45 p.m., but does not yet have a control time.

UPDATE (as of 3:30 p.m., Sept. 2): The Syrup Fire, located roughly 10 miles northwest of Mountain Home, has now spread over 3,200 acres. The fire is still expected to be contained by 10 p.m. Monday with an estimated control date of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

The Mineral Fire, located approximately 20 miles northwest of Weiser, has already doubled in size, now reaching over 2,000 acres. There is still no estimated containment or control time.

The “MM60 HWY51” Fire, located 10 miles southeast of Bruneau, was contained at 10 acres by 1 p.m. on Sunday.
