BOISE, Idaho – The United States Air Force is celebrating its 77 birthday on Sept. 18. The U.S. Air Force was officially established as an independent military branch in 1947 after the National Security Act mandated the reorganization of the U.S. Government’s military establishment. Prior to the separation, military air strategy was under the U.S. Army.
