Idaho Attorney Sentenced to 42 Months in Federal Prison for Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

Robin Dwain Dunn, a 69-year-old attorney from Rigby, was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy in Eastern Idaho, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced Friday.

Dunn, a practicing attorney, played a key role in distributing controlled substances in the region, including methamphetamine and fentanyl, the department says.

Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill handed down the sentence, which also includes a $50,000 fine. Dunn will serve three years of supervised release following his prison term, according to the department.

Court records reveal that between June 2022 and February 2023, Dunn conspired with clients and others to distribute illegal drugs. Dunn and a client made two trips to the Salt Lake City area to obtain methamphetamine and fentanyl, which they transported back to Idaho for further distribution.

In November 2022, Dunn facilitated the distribution of fentanyl into the Bonneville County Jail, where he provided the drug to an inmate client. Dunn used his position as an attorney to carry out these illegal activities, abusing the trust placed in him as a legal professional.
