Cold front could bring rain, snow and freezing temps to Southeast Idaho later this week

If you’ve been giving that garden a few extra weeks because of the uncharacteristically warm autumn weather in Southeast Idaho, an incoming cold front later this week means it’s finally time to harvest.

The incredibly warm October that Southeast Idaho has experienced will continue into Wednesday, but by the end of the week local residents can expect to see some snowfall and freezing temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

“We’ve been incredibly warm for a long time and that’s going to continue (until) Wednesday,” the National Weather Service said. “We expect the front to come through very late in the day Wednesday to Wednesday evening.”

The Weather service said Southeast Idaho can continue to see highs in the mid to high 70s through Tuesday before the cold front moves in.

The cold front is being caused by a Pacific low pressure system that is pushing a high pressure system out, the National Weather Service said. With the low pressure, local residents can expect daytime highs in the 40s to 50s beginning late Wednesday or Thursday and continuing through the weekend.
