The Illinois Lottery said a man, who chose to remain anonymous, won $1 million on a scratch off ticket he purchased at a Circle K gas station in Mount Vernon.
He plans to use the money to buy a house, take care of his family and hopefully retire early, according to the Illinois Lottery.
“My girlfriend scratched the ticket and kept on staring at it and saying, ‘This can’t be right, this can’t be right’ – so I took a look and then ended up saying the same thing,” the winner said in a news release. “Once it sank in that we had won $1 million, we were both dumbfounded and happy at the same time – a moment we will never forget.”
