SPRINGFIELD (WGEM) – It’s been exactly one year since Illinois eliminated cash bail after the Illinois Supreme Court cleared the way for the Pretrial Fairness Act portion of the SAFE-T Act to go into effect Sept. 18, 2023, which started a new era for the state’s criminal justice system.
