Rep. LaHood rings the bell for the Salvation Army, discusses recent election results

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood was at the Hy-Vee on Orange Prairie Road Monday, ringing the bell to support the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign.

LaHood, a Republican representing Illinois’ 16th district in the House of Representatives, said he tries to support the campaign each year and credited the Salvation Army for the services they provide.

“The work they do to help families with hunger issues, housing issues, and other issues is tremendous. They are essential to our community and our nation,” he said.

He also spoke about the election results earlier this month, which saw Donald Trump win the presidency, and the Republican Party securing a majority in both the House of Representatives and Senate.

He discussed the goals he hopes to see achieved during the Trump administration.

“Getting the economy back on track. Bringing down inflation and getting prices where they need to be. Fixing our unmitigated disaster on the southern border and stopping illegal immigration,” he said.
