‘Human beings don’t have the right to execute anyone,’ protestors against death penalty gather in Indianapolis ahead of Joseph Corcoran’s execution

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Attorneys for an Indiana death row inmate are trying a last-ditch effort to keep him alive. Convicted killer Joseph Corcoran’s defense team filed for a stay of execution. “In Indiana we are surrounded by states that do not execute people who are seriously mentally ill. And we should not in Indiana execute people who are seriously mentally ill, and Mr. Corcoran is one of those people,” says one of Corcoran’s attorneys, Joanna Green.
