DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) — Dubuque County spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to maintain Lovers Lane for years, but the road is now private after a recent ruling.
Joe Schmitt lives on Kress Lane, which can only be reached by traveling on the private road. Schmitt said he was upset to learn that Dubuque County Attorney Scott Nelson conceded a lawsuit, leading a judge to declare the road private.
“Anyone with common sense or conscience can see there were a lot of missteps here in this case,” Schmitt said. “I think we could probably just do away with the board if this is the way things are handled. Basically, it took our voices away from us.”…
