Relative humidity values will be on the upper scale with the arrival of the system which will lead to dense fog developing later this evening across all zones of the forecast area. Eventually freezing rain will move into southern Iowa late tonight with this activity continuing north into central Iowa overnight. Then freezing air will work in on the northwest side of the system where freezing rain will transition to heavy wet snow during the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning. A mix of freezing rain/sleet and snow will continue in these areas through late Tuesday morning before the system slides off to the east. The more impactful part of this event will be the ice with accumulations of a glaze-0.25″ across parts of central and southern Iowa and a trace-2″ of snow accumulation across the eastern zone.
