The southwesterly flow will continue through late week with the second half of fog and freezing rain Wednesday through Thursday, details below…
Fog will redevelop in most zones of the forecast area again later tonight through Wednesday morning. The idea is fog should dissipate toward late Wednesday morning, except for central Iowa. The latest soundings show light moisture in the mid-levels and toward the surface across northwest and north central Iowa late tonight through Wednesday morning which will denote a risk of freezing drizzle and the potential for a light glazing of ice. On the other side, the main event will hit further southeast with freezing rain to work in across southern Iowa after midnight tonight continuing north into central Iowa by Wednesday morning. Temperatures will warm up later Wednesday morning so if you live south, this will be freezing rain transitioning to rain. That said, conditions will still be slick with total ice accumulation of a glaze-0.10″. All precipitation will exit by early Wednesday afternoon.
