Cassidy has been charged with felony third-degree criminal mischief
A Mississippi man accused of trashing a Satanic temple display in Iowa’s Capitol building has been charged with a hate crime.
Prosecutors have charged Michael Cassidy with felony third-degree criminal mischief, according to the Des Moines Register .
Cassidy destroyed the temple “beyond repair,” Satanic Temple leaders said .
The display, organized by the Satanic Temple of Iowa, drew controversy during its stint in the Capitol building — with even Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis saying he would “chip in” to Cassidy’s legal fund.
Cassidy will be arraigned on Feb. 15.
