Iowa House Republicans are advancing an effort to reduce state income tax rates. The House and Senate Committees approved a plan to reduce rates to 3.8% next year instead of a planned 3.9% rate by 2026. Republicans say the state can afford the rate cut after ending fiscal year 2023 with a nearly $2 billion surplus.
