Updated: Tornado Watch Issued for All of Southwest Iowa

(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for southwest and west Central Iowa until 3:00 a.m., Tuesday.

A watch is issued when conditions are favorable, such as severe thunderstorms or tornadoes. It doesn’t mean severe weather is imminent, but you should watch weather alerts and be prepared to act.

There is also a slight risk of excessive rainfall, mainly over the western half of Iowa. Heavy rain could lead to new or renewed river flooding in some areas or water ponding in low-lying or poor drainage areas.
