FIRST ALERT: Storms likely to hold off until after Thursday evening fireworks

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – While our 4th of July featured quite a bit of cloudiness and a very spotty shower, it’s been a dry and rather pleasant day by most accounts. We are, however, continuing to track chances for showers and thunderstorms in and around the Stateline later in the evening and overnight, as we’ve been doing all week long. A cluster of showers and storms initiated in north central Iowa Thursday afternoon, and is moving eastward early Thursday evening.
