Bird talks victim services update, domestic violence conference

(Shenandoah) — Compensation forms for Iowa’s crime victims are going paperless to streamline the process and improve efficiency. The action comes after Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird’s office completed an “audit” of victim services earlier this year. Bird says the audit, along with roundtable discussions around the state, revealed some crime victims, including survivors of sexual abuse, were struggling to apply for compensation through the state’s victims services fund. In an interview with KMA News, Bird says the new online form is meant to make it easier for victims to get help getting back on their feet.
