In honor of Veteran’s Day, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation provided pork loin event kits for veteran celebration meals through its Pork for Patriots program. In its second year, 160 Iowa veteran-based organizations were given 48 boneless pork loins and a kit that included placemats, cups, napkins, etc., with ten local American legions, veterans’ affairs offices, and other veteran-based groups. This year, 84 new organizations requested supplies, which was a 45% increase in participation across the state. Laura Noehren, foundation program manager, says, “The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation believes in the power of food to bring people together in celebration, and we are excited to see our programming spur more communities to host events. We hope that through the Pork for Patriots offering, veterans across the state will be honored this Veterans Day and every day.” Local legions and groups in Arcadia, Breda, Denison, Guthrie Center, Manning, Rockwell City, Sac City, and Schleswig were awarded one of these kits, which is averaged to feed around 960 individuals. The complete list of all participating organizations is included below.
