Sergeant Alex Dinkla with the Iowa State Patrol said that even careful drivers are in danger when roads are covered with ice.

“Sometimes we really would like people to slow down in these conditions, travel slow, travel with patience. We do recommend that in these ice conditions, but sometimes there’s just nothing you can do when the roads are just completely ice-covered and your vehicle simply doesn’t get traction on the roadways,” Dinkla said.
