Dry air streaming in from the north has steadily eaten away at the north edge of our area of snowy precipitation overnight and Sunday, shifting the area of accumulating snow south about 40 miles.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect for southern Iowa until midnight. Area’s south of Iowa are experiencing very difficult winter conditions.

Snow totals are now expected to end up around 1-3″ along Iowa’s southern tier of counties, down from last night’s predictions. Heavier snow, ice, and blizzard conditions can be found south of our state.
Lows will be in the single digits Sunday night, and wind chills will drop below zero by morning:
