TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – You might not think a wrong turn into a cemetery would lead you to discover your ancestry.
“My mother just kinda got lost in this neighborhood. And grandmother said, ‘Oh, I had always prayed that I could see where my family was once again before I died,” said Tisharra Hale, president of the Ritchie Cemetery Friends Group.
Hale was six years old at the time, and didn’t think much of it, but as an adult, curiosity about her family’s history brought her back to the spot she stumbled upon decades ago…
