TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – The Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) is warning people to avoid eating salad kits which may contain harmful food borne disease.

Listeria can cause serious and even life-threatening infections in young children, frail or older adults and those who have weakened immune systems, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s ( CDC ) website . Healthy people may suffer short-term symptoms like a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria can also lead to stillbirths and miscarriages among pregnant women.
