Severe Weather Expected to Blossom This Evening in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas

Strong to Severe Storms Likely This Afternoon & Evening in the Southeast

06/27/24 1:57pm ET

Good afternoon everyone. Strong storms and heavy showers have begun to erupt in the Southeast as yesterday’s energy sinks south from the Ohio Valley & Central States. Heating of the day, combined with sunshine and plenty of moisture, have created the perfect potion for strong to severe weather in the region from this afternoon, onward.

While we have no severe thunderstorms watches at this time, we are seeing individual severe thunderstorm warnings in isolated spots. Right now, those spots include areas of North Carolina approaching the coastal regions and eventually into the Outer Banks. We’ve also seeing some marine warnings for areas off of the Florida Panhandle as locally severe cells have a history of rough seas and waterspouts.

As the afternoon wears on, we will see more warnings pop up for storms that are associated with winds in excess of 55mph, large hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. If this trend continues, we could see severe thunderstorm watches posted in regards.
