Update 7:27 a.m.: The NWS is reporting 70 mph winds five miles east of Silver Lake.
TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – Several counties in northeast Kansas are under a severe thunderstorm warning Monday morning.
The National Weather Service of Topeka has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the following counties:
- Central Geary
- Southeastern Riley
- Southwestern Wabaunsee
- Central Pottawatomie
- Northwestern Shawnee County
- Northern Wabaunsee County
- Eastern Pottawatomie County
- Southwestern Jackson County.
Severe thunderstorms were seen from 3 miles south of Wheaton to 3 miles southeast of Wamego moving 60 mph, according to the NWS.
The NWS is saying gusty winds up to 70 mph and nickel-sized hail is possible. Tree damage and damage to roofs, mobile homes and outbuildings are possible. Most of the warnings will expire at 7:45 a.m.

- St. Marys
- Silver Lake Hoyt
- St. George
- Maple Hill
- Mayetta
- McFarland
- Paxico

- Potawatomi Reservation.
