A Tornado Watch is in Effect Until 10pm CDT
Good afternoon everyone. As forecasted and discussed for the past few days, severe weather is starting to devlop in the Midwest thanks to low pressure exiting the Rockies and bumping into warmer and more humid air.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms stretch from central Kansas northeast into Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Some of these storms have had a history of quarter size hail and winds in excess of 60mph. We are also seeing enough shear to create conditions favorable for the risk of a few tornadoes.
For this reason, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 10pm across parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.
As our storms head to the east, northeast, and southeast, we can expect other areas to see heavy thunderstorm activity as well. This means that we cannot rule out some severe weather for parts of Texas, Arkanas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, and possibly lower Michigan over the next 24-36hrs from west to east.
