Kansas voters will be electing at least one new representative in Congress on Election Day.
Kansas has four seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and three races have incumbents running for reelection. But one race — the 2nd Congressional District, which includes Topeka — has no incumbent.
Neither of the state’s U.S. senators are on the ballot this year.
Check back in the evening for unofficial results.
Polls close at 7 p.m., and unofficial election results will start being released soon after. But mail ballots and provisional ballots can be counted for a period after Election Day. Statewide final results won’t be official until they are certified by the State Board of Canvassers, which typically happens at the end of the month.
2nd Congressional District
Shawnee County is the most populous area of Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District , which has a three-way race for among Republican Derek Schmidt, Democrat Nancy Boyda and Libertarian John Hauer.
Incumbent U.S. Rep. Jake LaTurner, R-Kan., decided not to seek reelection in this district representing Topeka and much of the eastern third of Kansas minus most of the Kansas City metro.
