Kansas Secretary of State announces 2025 legislative agenda

(KOAM) – Secretary of State Scott Schwab announced his 2025 legislative priorities today, focusing on streamlining government processes, reducing fees, protecting businesses, modernizing regulations, and strengthening election laws.

Schwab’s agenda includes eliminating outdated filings, reducing fees, and requiring third-party companies offering state services at inflated prices to disclose lower-cost options available directly through the Secretary of State’s Office.

He also aims to modernize the state’s paper-based regulation system, in place since 1965, to improve transparency and efficiency.

For elections, Schwab is proposing new legislation to regulate ballot drop boxes and enhance election worker safety by criminalizing threats and interference.

“These initiatives reflect our commitment to modernizing operations and protecting Kansans,” Schwab said.
