CSX Santa Train Returning to Appalachia in November

KINGSPORT, TN – The beloved CSX Santa Train is set to make its 82nd run through Appalachia on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

According to a LinkedIn post from CSX, this annual holiday tradition, which began in 1943, will once again deliver holiday cheer to thousands of families along a 110-mile route through some of the most rural parts of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee.

The Santa Train, organized by CSX, will carry over 15 tons of toys, gifts, and winter accessories to those in need.

For many families in the Appalachian region, the Santa Train has become a symbol of hope and joy during the holiday season.

According to CSX, volunteers, including CSX employees, work tirelessly to ensure the train’s safe journey through the region, bringing smiles to children and adults alike.

After a brief pause during the pandemic, the train has resumed its cherished journey, continuing its legacy of generosity and community spirit, according to CSX.

The CSX Santa Train remains one of the country’s longest-running and most cherished holiday traditions.
