Gov. Beshear orders state flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of fallen RSCO deputy

RUSSELL SPRINGS, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Flags at all Kentucky state buildings will be lowered to half-staff on Saturday in honor of Russell County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Phipps, who died in the line of duty on Monday.

Phipps died from his injuries on Monday after being shot while allegedly searching for 41-year-old Joshua Arnold, who also died in the shooting.

A visitation is set for 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at 3trees Church in Russell Springs, with funeral services and cremation to follow.

In a news release Thursday, Gov. Andy Beshear encouraged all individuals, businesses, organizations, and government agencies to join in this tribute. More information on Kentucky state flag status can be found on this website .
