Weather Extra First Alert Day followed by beneficial rain

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A First Alert Weather day will kick in this evening, as showers and storms will work on in from the west and push eastward. Locations within our viewing area will see eventual breaks in the cloud coverage, which will load up on thunderstorm energy. Storms to the west and southwest in Kentucky and Tennessee will then feed off of this energy from the sunshine, continuing the strength of these storms over the region. The main threats that will come with these storms will be straight line wind gusts of 50-60 mph. There is a very low tornado and hail threat, but overall we’re not overly concerned about this threat today.
