After controversy, Kyle Rittenhouse makes 90-second speech at Kentucky GOP fundraiser

FLORENCE, Ky. – After online controversy and alleged death threats, gun rights activist Kyle Rittenhouse spoke to a GOP crowd in Northern Kentucky for about 90 seconds Wednesday night. Two people protested his visit at a nearby busy intersection.

Rittenhouse, who lives in Texas, spoke at a fundraiser for Republican state House candidate T.J. Roberts at Smokin’ This and That BBQ, a restaurant in the city of Florence, about 15 miles southwest of Cincinnati. The two became friends after meeting through their political activism.

“This election has to do with our freedoms,” Rittenhouse said. “The Second Amendment saved my life. … We have gun-grabbing politicians every single day who are trying to strip away our Second Amendment rights.”

Roberts, he said, won’t do that.

Following the introduction from Rittenhouse, Roberts laid out his plan for guns in the Bluegrass state: elimination of taxes on guns, gun accessories, and bullets; elimination of gun-free zones; lowering mandated age for concealed carry licenses to 18; and a dollar-to-dollar tax refund for Kentuckians who have to pay a tax stamp on guns.
