KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — No-excuse early voting begins Thursday across the state. And this year’s turnout is poised to exceed expectations, so clerks are taking every measure to be prepared.
“It’s been a little bit of nerves and a whole lot of over-preparation,” Scott County Clerk Rebecca Johnson told FOX 56.

This year, the county will now have two early voting locations, both at the courthouse and local library. Voters will check in with their signature and ID and have their ballot printed on-site. When voters receive their paper ballot, they can vote for individual races as well as straight party, however, that option won’t count for everything on the ballot.
“Please, please don’t neglect to vote in any judicial, nonpartisan, or questions that appear on the ballot because those will not be captured with the straight party vote,” Johnson said.
Johnson says if a voter happens to make an error on their ballot, like stray marks or voting for too many people in a council race, the scanner will give a notification and an election officer can work with the voter to make sure they can still cast a clean ballot. Johnson said the poll workers voters will meet all have been trained to help in every way they can, but there are some things they can’t help with.
