Gov. Beshear raises early concerns over proposed electric vehicle policy rollbacks

Kentucky ( FOX 56 ) — Gov. Andy Beshear is sounding the alarm to protect electric-vehicle-related jobs as the next administration signals it is keen to roll back some Biden administration EV policies.

“You look at a state like Kentucky that voted for President-elect Trump by 30 points, and it’s 10,000 related jobs on the line, and those are only growing,” Beshear said Sunday on CBS’ Face the Nation.

Beshear called President-elect Trump’s campaign-promised rollback of electric vehicle policies, like a federal tax credit, “concerning.” Beshear, who has pitched Kentucky as the electric vehicle battery capital of the country, argued that cutting such policies could also risk some jobs in the state.

“It’s important that these projects continue. Remember, a lot of the people taking these jobs, jobs that support their families – voted for President-elect Trump because they thought that would improve their job, that he was focused on their job. So, I hope that he will get good advice, and I’ll do everything I can to get my message out to our federal delegation of how important these jobs are,” Beshear said.
