Kentucky Transportation officials head to North Carolina to aid clean-up efforts

Another rotation of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District Three is heading out to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Personnel deployed to North Carolina last week to continue assisting in the clean-up and rebuilding of roads following the hurricane. This group is the third group to rotate from district three. Right now, mass damages are still seen on interstate highways, making those cross-country road trips near impossible. Crews are working hard to fix the repairs, but construction isn’t expected to be fully complete until next year. As of October, the North Carolina Department of Transportation reported that they had identified more than 6,900 sites where roads and bridges are damaged.
