HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced Kentucky is leading a multistate coalition in support of Louisiana’s law related to the display of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms.
Louisiana’s legislature passed a bill earlier this year requiring all public K-12 schools and state-funded universities to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms. The law also requires a three-paragraph “context statement” to be a part of every display to provide examples of the Ten Commandments being a part of the American public education system.

In November, a federal district court judge blocked the law from taking effect. Coleman was joined with attorneys general from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and West Virginia in a filing before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
