After a foggy start to our Wednesday, rounds of potentially flooding rains are on tap for Southeast Louisiana.
“After areas of dense fog, our attention turns to the threat for heavy rain and a few strong storms,” WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. “The biggest question for today’s heavy rain is where does the line of storms begin to stall and sit.”
He says where that happens, the water could overwhelm the drainage.
“The Northshore has the highest chance to see flooding, but the Southshore isn’t out of the woods. If the line advances enough into the city then heavy rain could also be an issue across the Southshore. Those who do find themselves under the heavy rain today could pick up 3-6 inches of rain with isolated spots topping 8 inches.”
Along with the flood concerns, Malone is watching for other threatening conditions.
“There is also a low end threat for severe thunderstorms including gusty winds and isolated tornadoes.”
Another blast of bad weather could bring heavy rain and street flooding Thursday.
