After stormy start, weather turns cooler and dry through Fat Tuesday

Strong to severe storms blew through Southeast Louisiana Sunday night into Monday morning.

“A Tornado Watch is in effect until 9:00am Monday,” WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone advised. “A few storms have been dropping large hail and producing gusty winds.”

He says the unsettled conditions are moving off to the east.

“Things will calm later this morning and most of your Monday will be drier. It will turn chilly and windy in the 50s by Monday evening.”

Malone warns that winds will gust to 40 miles per hour through the afternoon.

What about Fat Tuesday?

“Mardi Gras looks cool and beautiful. Expect a cold and breezy morning in the 40s followed by a sunny and cool afternoon in the 50s.”
