Hurricane Beryl Attains Category 4 Strength, Tropical Depression #3 Forms in Gulf of Mexico

Hurricane Beryl Track Continues Towards Jamaica & Yucatan of Mexico

Good evening everyone. Hurricane Beryl has attained Category 4 status as it continues to rapidly deepen. Winds are currently at 130mph with higher gusts, and movement is now WNW at 18mph. The slight slowdown is indiciative of steering winds attempting to shift it a little further north.

This was and is expected as Hurricane Beryl rows through the Lesser Antilles/Windward Islands, and has it sights set on a close call or hit with Jamaica. After Jamaica comes the Yucatan of Mexico, where we will be watching very closely to see what it does and where it makes landfall. This will be key as far as what role it’ll play with the Texas and/or Louisiana coast.

Before Hurricane Beryl weakens after a brush with some of the more mountainous islands, we are epxcting to attain strong Category 4 or even Category 5 status. This is an unusual storm for this time of year as we typically don’t see development that far to the west off of Africa, being able to make the trip all the way to here. Those types of systems are generally reserved for late summer and fall.
