Tropical Storm Debby has formed in the eastern Gulf of Mexico

As of the 4pm advisory, Tropical Depression Four has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Debby with winds of 40 mph.

The storm is looking healthier on satellite with convection popping off around the center and more of an outflow look in the upper-levels. Conditions will continue to be conducive for further strengthening through the next 48 hours as it makes its journey northward.

The latest National Hurricane Center track has Debby strengthening into a category one hurricane before making landfall near the Big Bend of Florida on Monday. Thereafter, it will continue to move northeastward towards the Carolinas.

Due to high pressure around, this system will pose no threat to Louisiana.
