Lake Charles man wins $2 million lotto jackpot

BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY) – A Lake Charles man became an instant millionaire over the weekend, officials said.

Lake Charles resident Christopher Archinard won a Lotto jackpot worth over $2 million in the Louisiana Lottery‘s Aug. 3 drawing by a single ticket sold at Raceway MLK in Lake Charles. The store received a selling bonus of $20,309.07, equal to 1% of the prize.

Archinard claimed the prize on Monday and received $1,457,175.77 after state and federal tax withholdings. This is the third Lotto jackpot-winning ticket sold this year; the other two were sold in Coushatta and Kenner, lottery officials said.

The jackpot had reached the $2 million mark after accumulating since its last winner on March 23.

For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing. More information about Lotto and other jackpot winners can be found on the Lottery’s website.
