Isolated Severe Weather Reported in Parts of Louisiana & West Coast of Florida
09/04/24 4:07pm ET
Good afternoon everyone. As expected, we are watching strong to severe storms developing across parts of the Gulf Coast, including areas in Louisiana and Florida.
While we don’t see any widespread severe weather or watches, a few severe thunderstorm and marine warnings have popped up in regards to a long tropical fetch that stretches from Florida to Texas. Some of these storms have had a history of 50+mph winds, small hail, and frequent lightning.
Look for the continuation of scattered strong to severe storms across parts of Florida, and more numerous heavy showers and storms along the Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi coast. Flood watches remain in effect for very slow moving tropical showers and storms in these areas.
The primary risk where we do see some severe weather, will be damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, hail, and the risk of a few waterspouts along near-shore areas.
