Poll: See which classic Louisiana food is a fall favorite in US. Did your top treat make the list?

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — As cooler fall weather rolls in across the United States, the craving for seasonal autumn recipes for soups and pies grows stronger.

A poll by Wealth of Geeks ranked the nation’s favorite fall foods to find out which dishes rank at the top. A total of 3,000 people were surveyed.

Louisiana ranked No. 4 with gumbo. This spicy stew-like dish sometimes served with potato salad is a classic fall and wintertime favorite in the state.

The No. 1 dish is Illinois’ pumpkin pie. According to the survey, the state is the top producer of pumpkins in the United States.

Other dishes in the top five are Texas chili, Alabama pecan pie and Kansas pumpkin bread.
