Festivals & Events Happening this Weekend: October 9, 10, 11, 12, 13

Thanks to a weather report predicting a cold front, all of Louisiana should be perfect for a festival this weekend. Get out and shop for antiques and celebrate Louisiana cotton, tamales, culture, food, music, gumbo, sweet dough pies, art, Filipina culture, and all the wonderful things the state has to offer.

Louisiana Cotton Festival – Ville Platte – October 9, 10, 11, 12, 13

The cotton industry is celebrated at the 2024 Louisiana Cotton Festival with carnival rides, music, a fais-do-do street dance, lots of good food, and the 70th crowning ceremony of Queen Cotton.

Musical acts throughout the weekend include:

  • Wicked Waters
  • Trevor Causey
  • Geno Delafosse & French Rockin’ Boogie
  • Adam Leger Band
  • Clay Cormier

Admission is $5 per person, 5 years old and over, on Friday and Saturday. Free entry on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

Rapides Parish Fair – Alexandria – October 9, 10, 11, 12, 13

The 2024 Rapides Parish Fair features exhibits, carnival rides, a Queen’s pageant, games, live music, food, and tons of fun for the whole family. Advance carnival ticket sales are available at the offices of CENLA Broadcasting KQID Radio, 1115 Texas Avenue. A $3 discount on Friday through Sunday armbands is offered with a Food Bank donation.
