This Week in Louisiana Politics: Tax reform special session, Primary Election results

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — On This Week in Louisiana Politics, Gov. Jeff Landry plans to find a way to make things better for working-class families and get rid of taxes that drive businesses away.

Louisiana saw record-breaking voter participation during the Nov. 5 election as the East Baton Rouge mayoral race continues. Republican candidate Emile “Sid” Edwards and Democratic incumbent candidate Sharon Weston Broome are expected to face off in a runoff during the Dec. 7 election.

Other seats are looking to be filled during the Dec. 7 election such as Gonzales mayor, police chief of Gonzales and East Baton Rouge Metro Council members for Districts 1 & 2.

Congressmen Mike Johnson, Troy Carter and Steve Scalise were re-elected during the Primary Election.

The Federal Reserve is cutting interest rates for a second time as a sign of lowering inflation.
