Heavy rain is moving into Southeast Louisiana.

“A Flood Watch is in effect for the area Monday and early Tuesday,” WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. “Multiple rounds of rain could lead to flooding.”

He says rainfall rates could exceed 1-2 inches an hour.

“Multiple rounds or rain look likely into Tuesday and Tuesday night. When it is all finished, many will have picked up 2-4 inches of rain.”

Malone says a few spots could get over 6 inches.

“Temperatures will remain well above average the next 48 hours before a cold front swings through by mid-week bringing back the winter chill.”
