BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has elected its officers for 2025, including re-electing District 6 Member Ronnie Morris as president.
District 4 Member Stacey Melerine was elected vice president, and District 7 Member Kevin Berken was elected secretary-treasurer.
BESE consists of 11 members: eight elected representatives from the state’s BESE districts and three at-large members appointed by the governor.
The other elected members include Paul Hollis (District 1), Dr. Sharon Latten Clark (District 2), Sandy Holloway (District 3), Lance Harris (District 5) and Preston Castille (District 8). The three at-large members appointed by the governor are Conrad Appel, Dr. Judy Armstrong and Simone Champagne.
Board members serve a four-year term that runs concurrently with the governor’s term, according to BESE.
