BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Entergy Louisiana and D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments announced the beginning of commercial operations at Sunlight Road Solar in Washington Parish.
Sunlight Road Solar is a 50-megawatt solar facility supplying power to Entergy’s grid through a 20-year power-purchase agreement. According to a news release, the facility will generate enough electricity to power around 11,500 homes in Louisiana.
“This milestone represents more than just adding solar power to our portfolio; it’s about providing affordable, reliable and clean energy to our customers,” said Phillip May, Entergy Louisiana president and CEO.
The facility, which will utilize single-axis tracking technology, will also add to economic development across Louisiana. According to a news release, customers are expected to save around $22 million over the term of the Sunlight Road Solar power-purchase agreement.
