Mayor Friday Ellis appointed to Southern Rail Commission by Governor Jeff Landry

MONROE, La. ( KTVE/KARD )– The City of Monroe announced the appointment of Mayor Friday Ellis to the Southern Rail Commission by Governor Jeff Landry, which is a significant milestone for both Monroe and the broader region as efforts continue to advance rail connectivity and economic development in Louisiana.

Mayor Friday Ellis has the background and leadership necessary to ensure
success for the Southern Rail Commission. I look forward to his great leadership in
this position.

According to officials, the goal is to bring together the public and private partners to drive progress on rail initiatives across the Southeast and create safe, reliable, and efficient ways to move transportation. Also, to focus on expanding passenger rail services and improving freight rail efficiency, the SRC is shaping the future of transportation in the region.

We are thrilled to have Mayor Ellis on the Commission. His leadership and vision in making substantive progress in bringing Amtrak to the I-20 Corridor will be of immense value to our
