Baton Rouge, LA – A tornado watch remains in effect for parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas until 3 p.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued Watch 718 early Saturday morning, citing heightened risk of severe thunderstorms and potential tornadoes.
According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, areas under the watch include more than 50 Louisiana parishes, from East Baton Rouge to Jefferson Davis, along with numerous Mississippi counties such as Rankin and Pearl River. In Texas, counties like Nacogdoches and Hardin are also at risk.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant and monitor weather updates as conditions may worsen. The Storm Prediction Center warns of strong winds, hail, and tornado activity, which could impact communities throughout the region.
Officials encourage individuals to review emergency plans, seek shelter during warnings, and avoid traveling if severe weather arises. Mobile home residents are urged to relocate to sturdier structures when possible.
