Younger Americans are getting cancer, possibly leading to thousands of deaths in DMV

WASHINGTON (7News) – Younger Americans are being diagnosed with cancer and new data from the American Cancer Society is breaking down what that could look like this year. In 2024, Maryland is estimated to have 3,300 new cases. Virginia could see more than 48,000 people diagnosed with the disease and Maryland more than 36,000. In total, the two states and the district could see 27,710 cancer deaths.
