Gas prices: Second straight day of increases at the pumps

Gas prices increased for the second straight day on Thursday.

The average price in the country for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline is $3.46, according to AAA . This is slightly more expensive than on Wednesday, when prices stood at $3.454 per gallon. Both prices are higher than Tuesday, when the price of a gallon of regular gas was $3.441. It is the first time gas prices have increased on consecutive days since before Memorial Day weekend.

California still has the most expensive gas prices, coming in at $4.872 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline on Thursday. Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest gas in the nation, with Thursday’s price for a gallon of regular-grade gas costing $2.939. Incidentally, California’s price decreased from Wednesday, while Mississippi’s price increased.

Gas prices are less expensive than in June 2023, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.592.
